Is fat the next smoking?

You know, how, like about 50 years ago (and up to last year in Japan), you could light one up and enjoy it, without being given the evil eye, and a huge guilt trip, and now being a smoker is just next to drinking the fresh blood of infants, in terms of its status as an activity from which pleasure might be derived?

Well, looks like the clock finally may be running out on eating as well. I see all the signs of a massive crusade against people who are overweight, in the States. Recently I bumped into a friend of a friend in the pool and we got talking about this and that, and he said that public health will not stand a chance in the States because of all the expense of taking care of the health problems of the obese. Fat people are killing the chances of universal health care, in other words.

Now this : should fat people pay extra to fly?

I'd say that smokers still get a pretty bloody good run here in Japan. I, as a passive smoker, am looking forward to fresh public air in Australia.
